    Attaching aluminum skins to trailer

Where do you get rivets like that, the O-rings, and the tool? Doesn't the action of drawing the rivet tight completely crush the o-ring? or is that the intention?

    Attaching aluminum skins to trailer

My enclosed race trailer has a steel skeleton, 16" on center, with an aluminum skin that was attached by self-tapping sheet metal screws. The screws use a square (Robertson) bit (four points) and have an eight point "female" on the oval head of the screw. I've looked and looked and cannot find...

good rv box coach brands and how do you know

Anyone building new, this should be the only way to go. Mr. Dragon, I presume you're talking Peterbilt 379 or 359 Extended Hood, twin external exhaust stacks, no bunk over cab, lots of chrome, lots of lights, visor, train whistle, and CAT engine (that way you can proudly wear the CAT hat going...

    freightliner COE Motorhome your thoughts?

Price is pretty low. I suspect that something might be wrong with it. The added box appears to be HUGE. You'd have to really look close at the construction and "the systems" that have been put into it. Might be a diamond in the rough ... or a money pit.

Want to build my own- Need opinions

I agree 100% with Mr. Blizzards observations on the weight and balance importance. Tandem axles solves a bunch of front end weight problems ... unless you get everything too far forward!

Want to build my own- Need opinions

Calculating weight and balance (Center of Gravity ... CG) will be key; especially if you go with a single axle in back. Get the CG to far forward and you'll overload the front axle, too far back and you'll be doing wheelies. Think about the heavy stuff and where it will be going. The CG...

    Need some measurements... please

Search the specs for the kind of truck you're thinking about. You'll see "BBC" which is Bumper to Back of Cab. For a Peterbilt 379 I think its 132" or 11'. Good luck. What kind of software are you using for the drawing?

    hdt tagged in louisiana?

From the standpoint of DMV ... does iet become a big pickup truck with large cap enclosed box then? You might want to check with the companies that sell the MDT trucks converted for pulling large fifth wheel horse trailers, race trailers, and RV's. Many of those don't have have a toilet or...

    Fla to Plains states

Exchanged e-mail with a racer friend who is flying down for the 24 hours. Had they known about your trailer, they might have driven down and brought it back!

    Fla to Plains states

Had I known that a month ago ... I would have driven my Suburban down (equipped to pull my 24' enclosed race trailer) and brought your trailer back today! We flew down last Sunday (could have left from Suburban Chicago at 10pm on Saturday night) and left The Villages at 8am Sunday. Lots of...

Fusable (sp?) link. The alternator on my race car went out one time. Look it to a alternator/generator/starter repair guy. Been in the business most of life (now 60). Reputed to know everything there was to know about those three things. Fixed mine up. He asked if I had a "fusable link" in...

    Insurance Problem at renewal?

I wonder if that accident the family had with the truck conversion pulling the race trailer somewhere in the plains states where I think five people were killed has anything to do with this.

    Front Axle Capacity

Have you weighed the truck? Do you think you'll have a front axle weight problem? Whenever I see at T/C motorhome with little or no rear overhang and the generator, water tanks, waste tanks, etc. are ahead of the rear axle(s), I wonder how much weight of the truck is on the front axle and if...
