Well if misery likes company welcome aboard!! It is easy to think it will only cost X, but when its all over it costs X times 3!! Most guys wouldn't want to admit they have as much in their projects as we do, for fear that people may think we're either nuts or lavish spenders and they could do...

Design questions - All input welcomed

Welcome to the forum. There are a few guys that have done what you have planned, the trailers get heavy, but you will have enough truck to pull them. The truck will remain titled as personal truck, I'm not sure if you will have to do some conversions to make the tractor listed as a private RV...

    starting to build motorhome

Then drive up the road to Bontragers, in White Pigeon MI they have a wole farmstead covered in RV surplus, you might tour the Pony Express T/C plant while you are there. Just have a plan of what you need, how big each part can be, and make sure he parts you buy will work for you. Returns are...

    roof material

My roof is 1/2 particle board, but my rafters are on 16" centers, and I walk carefully the little time I'm up there. If I would have sheeted it myself I would use 1/2 inch plywood with a 1 x 4 down the center for a crown, then plywood strips out further for support.

    roof material

Softtouch walls get kinda spendy, it takes TONS of 3M spay glue and staples to do a soft touch wall a10 yard of vinyl and foam doesn't cover much, but really adds to the finish. You spray both the wall then the foam, after a minute or so you stick the foam to the wall. then repeat with the vinyl...

    roof material

The Rum Runner has OSB on the roof, but I'd prefer plywood if you have to walk on it for cleaning it just feels a bit more rigid. Another thing I'd do different is to put 1x4 down the center an then some ply wood strips further out to give the plywood a bit of a crown rather than a flat roof...

    starting to build motorhome

You want to line the inner walls first, then wire outlets, and plumb everything, then have it spay insulated and shave the foam level, then put the outer skin on it. Much easier that way. -blizz

    Beating the dead horse...

My whole build is blogged out on the Escappees MDT forum. So far lots of issues, the ones you mentioned are not any of them. Truck is solid, squeek and rattle free. It could be a bit quieter (engine turbo whine) but that's more a function of more sound deadning. here is the link...

    Beating the dead horse...

Every Class B camper I looked at when designing mine, was hard mounted to the cab. I'm not sure how much the frames flex, but when you compare a E350 frame to a MDT or HDT I would guess the frame flexes less then the E350. There are many many 25-30 year old Mini homes (class B's) sitting on...

Hay Ran D, how about this conversion? Kind of like yours.

That company uses the biggest fuse switch panel I have ever saw, You would think in a compact enviroment they could make the panel a bit more compact. That customer takes their Tea time very seriously, look at all the drawer space devoted to tea storage kettles and cups. We have 2 microwavable...

    Coolant Hose Issues...

Back in my kit-car engineering days, we would make a "radiator tube" out of a coat hanger, then take it to the muffler shop and have them bend us a prototype out of galvanized muffler pipe to match the hanger, then a 4" hose connector hose with a pair of hose clamps on opposite directions (don't...
