    Truck Conversion Rally 2010

Bob mentioned in a separate thread that we should have a rally for truck conversions, I don't know much about rallies but I do know they are a lot of work. I would suggest that we all just get an Escapees membership, Its a good club and a real active MDT/HDT group and forum, which is a great...

While 2600 seems like allot, I have 2 guys coming over to just replace my single 42" commercial walk thru door on the front of our office lowest bid -$3000! and it isn't going to painted pretty like yours. I would be wary of just cutting a door in with a sawzall too, you don't know where the...

die grinder... or drum sander in a drill? just make a circle a bit bigger than you need in a piece of aluminum, then use a fine sharpie to draw the circle on your wall and grind out to the line, it doesn't have to be perfect, the flange will cover it. -blizz

    Looking for clearance lights

Bob, have you thought of just poping your grommets out and runing a bead of silicone in the groove to help seal them, if not that flanged you have there might be a good bet, as you may be able to get or make gaskets to go between the flange and the outer wall of your truck. (Or silicone) Any...

    New to the Group

Welcome to this forum Matt!, first my condolences on the loss of your father, I sure he is looking fondly over your shoulder as you roll his truck down the road, and probably giggling a bit as you struggle with dealing with the scale house LEO's. May i kindly suggest that you spend a few nights...

    Empty Vehicle Weights

I'd think that might be ballpark close, your fuel tanks and genny are towards the front, mine are all the wat to the back, but for the $10.00 at the truck stop CAT scale will weigh front/rear and give you a total all in one shot. -blizz

STATE OF THE ART!!! 22 PERSON MOBILE SLEEPER UNIT

Doc, bless you for your service to others, a close friend of mine was sent to Mississippi to set up a big National Guard Camp. He and a helio pilot flew over the area and he brought back a slide show that would bring you to tears. We sent down semi load after semi load of goods from our area...

STATE OF THE ART!!! 22 PERSON MOBILE SLEEPER UNIT

It would have been cheaper yet just to set up those big tents and a couple hundred cots. I'll bet within weeks they would have their homes fixed to the point they could live in them instead of waiting years for the house to be completely ruined and expect the country or Brad Pitt to come in and...

    F450/550 Builder

Geof, even if it was a 650 or 750 chassis, they come with heavy a diesel engines, without the rear overhang you still wind up heavy on the front with a stretch. look at mine, even with the tanks genny and batteries behind the rear axle, I'm right on the limit without t being loaded for travel...

    F450/550 Builder

The thing that gets iffy on those stretched 1-tons is, the front axle gets very heavy, I still don't understand how the limo companies can make a 40' long limo out of an F450 and not be over weight with 10-14 people in it. Our 2001 GMC Roadtrek was close to max tire load on the front and that...

    Stealth Camper Build Thread

LEO's have been instucted to look for old vans trucks and units similar to these for the potential mobile meth lab, quite common around here- now that folks will turn in any neighbor that has strange smells coming from it. Stealth Camper Build Thread

I've been following this along the whole way but the biggest head scratcher I've had in this whole build is Why the Stealth? If you park that thing within a mile of any decent police station, some one is going to knock on your door. Park it in the wrong place and the gangbangers will think it...

Why not buy a trailer camper and transplant it to a truck frame?

Ha! If done by blizzard, if he has to do it, it may never get done. I spent the entire 3 day weekend on my project, and really not a lot to show for it, just a bunch of piddly azzed little things that need to be done before I can take it off the lift blocks. I stopped by the local RV dealer...

DOc, where are you finding cheap RV parts? The New RV parts are as expensive as ever (I suppose the demand from every one fixing up their old ones rather than buying new?) And a trip to Elkhart to the Surplus stores like we did gets you a whole lot of parts cheap, but then you find out later why...

Hey Tommy, If you have a chassis shop, then I suppose you understand the economics right now; My best friend from HS has been building drag cars for 25 years out in Ontario CA, he is pretty much keeping his shop booked (swamped) for repairs and alterations due to the fact you can buy almost new...
