    Ride quality

Geof, I have a switch to drop the air ride on the truck and yes it does make for a rough ride but the air ride cab on fully streched conversion is not needed in my opinion. AS long as you have the air ride chassis there is no problem. wick

    Need input planning new conv

Bob, Go to a freightliner dealer and take a look at the "Select Trucks". Usually 3 year old trucks that will have a warranty and are great for this type of thing. Usually have many to choose from. Then feel free to contact the various builders that are listed on this site and setup a time to...

    Ride quality

I would not consider keeping the cab air ride on a conversion as I agree with Gary in that it would not even be needed. Unless you have a conversion and have driven the truck before and after then it is difficult to understand how well the air ride works on the cab before and how well it rides...

That sure is an odd looking "200 gal water tank" I don't like the entry to the RV from the sleeper. I assume one would have to bend down? Too old for that. I am curious about the connection between the sleeper and the rv....how much flexing would there be? Wick

The Loooongest Toterhomes I have ever seen!

To go along with what Marc said, these long ones will make the corner easier than a standard unit. On the shorter units the truck may clear the corner but the trailer will not follow in the truck's tire tracks. The longer ones have the advantage that if you can make the corner with the truck...

    I got rust

I just spent a few days under my Show Hauler. There are always things we would like the manufacturer to do that was not done. The long and short of it is if we do not ask them to do it it will not be done. As I said I have just spent several days under mine. I have been making some...

    brake question 94 volvo wia

The proportioning valve on the truck thinks that there is a trailer attached so it brakes in a completely different manner when the trailer valve is pushed in. It does make for smoother braking all the way around. Wick

    My Showhauler Slide!

I can tell you that Showhauler is no different than any other manufacturer on the warranty issue, in some respects. But after having dealt with them for the last 2 coaches that I have had, I can tell you that they are first class even after the warranty is out. On my 1st coach after I sold it...

I cycled the swith to off then back on and it came on for a brief...

Is a manual transmission ever better than an auto in a conversion?

For many years the auto's have been a rarity in class 8 trucks. But in the last 3-4 years the # of auto's being sold on new trucks as gone thru the roof. Most of the very large trucking companies are starting to spec the auto's for 2 reasons. 1) maintenance. no clutch to constantly adjust...

Is a manual transmission ever better than an auto in a conversion?

The only time I think a manual would be better is when you have a computer glitch and can't get the auto into gear!!! Had that happen last week.... but I was at the shop so not as big a deal as if out on the road. I think that zero to 60 is probably faster with a manual than an auto.

    series 60 hard starting

Does your dash panel have a meesage panel? where you can see various messages. If not you have to go to a dealer and have them hook the computer to it to read them. Call several dealers and get priced for this before going to one. I have had them charge anywhere from $50.00 (Lexington, KY)...

    series 60 hard starting

How many miles on the engine? We had one doing a similar thing and hooked it to the laptop and found a couple of faults that were inactive and reset them and replaced the sensors and it was fine. air bag leveling side to side

I think that one danger with dual leveling valves would be the slow nature in which they move air. If you were in a situation where one side is a good bit down hill and the valves have leveld the unit then if you suddenly moved forward to a place that sloped in the other direction there would...
