Great! Now you got me worrying about that!

Good luck with the oil leaks! If you beat them, you will have accomplished something few have. We have a pair of 6V92 DDECs on our boat. Years ago, I gave up on my SprayNine and rags routine. Now I just change clothes before going into the engine room! Had a buddy with 8V71s in his boat...

    Slide toppers?

I think they will clean up the look of the exterior a bit. I may need a some fiberglass repair afterwards to fill the old mounting holes.

    Slide toppers?

I want to go with the "cartridge" styled topper like the Carefree Ascent. I think it will give the truck a cleaner look. I only have two slides, but both of the toppers are sort of limping along. I figure if I switch them to Ascents, I'll have a pretty good match when/if I switch out the...

    Slide toppers?

Ok, i got no joy out of you guys on my headlight inquiry, so I'll try slide toppers. The toppers on my Renegade are getting a bit long in the tooth. I'd like to replace them this winter with whatever Renegade is putting on their new units. I am reaching out to you guys in an attempt to save...

I've always thought that the weak, slow electric slide motors served as a sort of safety device. I figure that they give me plenty of time to react if they hit something, and probably won't do too much damage if they do.

I had to take a minute to look it up. That is a good looking truck! I'm a sucker for anything old school. Wikipedia listed standard power for that rig as a 427 gas engine. I know they can make anything pull with enough gears, but I agree with Sam that you may find yourself wanting for more...

    Toter purchase advice

Congratulations on selecting your new rig! I think you will be pleased with the big Detroit. It is a bit on the thirsty side, but fun to drive.

    LED Headlights

My factory headlamps have always left much to be desired. Now that the lenses are beginning to haze up, I'm thinking it is time for an upgrade. I see that Maxxima has come out with a line of led replacement headlights that fit semi-trucks, has anyone had any experience with them? Oops! I also...

    new guy

Welcome! The number of truck conversions on the market is hardly a measurable fraction of the total number of motorhomes out there, but there are still quite a few nice ones if you know where to look. I worked with two very helpful dealers: RacingRVs.com & DixieAutoBrokers.com. I think they...

    Ac while on the road

I've always wondered about those "bus style" systems too. It would be nice to have the HVAC run off of the main engine for certain trips, but I would not want the added equipment.

    Toter insurance vs motorhome insurance

We insured our Renegade through Erie Insurance. We drowned our generator and had the stator replaced in Edmonton, AB without a thought about insurance. I called them at the recommendation of the repair shop technician. All Erie wanted was a brief explanation of what happened and a photo of...

Thank you very much for the info.! I read it twice, just to be sure I got everything. Getting that computer read is something I've been wanting to do for some time. I just hate going to a shop for a computer read. I feel like I'd be setting myself up for something.

I could not find what you requested. The following (amongst other things) was on a sticker on the valve cover: Family: 5DDXH14.OELY Model Series 60. 14L 60RO840081 Mfg date April 2005 Thanks!

    Airport Departure Terminal

Thats what I was thinking. Yesterday I gave the airport police a call. They were initially a bit befuddled by my question. Once the guy who answered the phone got two more fellows in the conversation, they determined that tractor trailers could fix, so my coach should be OK too...

    Airport Departure Terminal

Did it not fit in parking, or was there no clearance at the departure terminal? I figured the arrival terminals may have made provisions for tour busses and such. I just need to do a quick drop-off.

    Airport Departure Terminal

Anyone ever drop someone off at Reagan National or any other airport with your Truck Conversion? I'm wondering if there is enough overhead clearance, or if you've seen any specific prohibitions on RVs at the terminals. I seem to recall some low awnings at arrivals, but not departures.

Amen! We have a pair of 6v92 DDECs in our fishing boat that are set up at 635hp each by DD (max hp configuration, to my knowledge). They had to be rebuilt at 1600 and 1750 hours, and we did not run them hard, by boat standards! I think the previous owner had a heavy hand on the throttles. I...

    Snow Chains - Revisited?

Those are very tempting. I reached out to On Spot last week and they put me in touch with an installing dealer in my area. I hope to talk to them this week. I have no desire to set out in the snow, but I would like to be prepared for an unexpected turn in the winter weather, since we RV...

How big of a Garage should I build

Build the biggest doggone building you can, with a 14' x 14' door! No one ever regrets building too large a building, or too large a door. Fifteen years ago I built a 30X60 building with a 12 x 12 door. I thought it was the biggest thing I would ever need. Now I have a boat and an RV that...
