    Fuel MPG

Based on everything I've read, I should be consistently doing better than 7mph, instead of hovering between 5 and 7. Some research on the trucking forums has given me about 20 different things to check. I'm going to begin with finding a Detroit Diesel service center I think I can trust and...

    rear axle air dump

Do you start the truck and allow it to re-pressurize the suspension before disengaging the leveling system?

    rear axle air dump

I was reading on another forum that coaches equipped with tag axles dump the suspension air before leveling to prevent the unit from shifting while leveling. Both of our TCs rear axles are drive axles, but I've noticed some movement and occasional banging noise when disengaging the leveling...

    Glendinning Cablemaster and hose master

I was amazed at how compact the RV version of their cable reel is. The marine version is a much more robust unit, but it requires much more space.

    Glendinning Cablemaster and hose master

That is what I was looking for. I am concerned about the reliability. That is one strike against it.

    Glendinning Cablemaster and hose master

Maybe I'm just being lazy, but I think aside from the power retraction, it would also tidy up my electrical bay and free up some space. I guess if the thing failed, I'd just use my spare. I wonder how reliable the units really are?

    Glendinning Cablemaster and hose master

Anyone use these products in their TC? I'm toying with the idea of at least the cable master to ease camp ground hassles. Right now my service cord is hardwired to the coach, so the entire thing has to be fed down through the hole in the bay, or I use the spare cord and just stick the end up...

    First post

I am very sorry for your loss. Welcome to the Forum. I just got back from a long trip with my crew. The way they spread out, I'm pretty sure I lived in less than 14':) No real advice on the Renegade. It is well built, the manufacturer stands behind it, and you will love it. Best of Luck!

    Fuel MPG

Does the transmission have to be completely reprogrammed if you "tweak" the engine? If I could have picked up 1.5 mpg on my last trip, I could have made a good down payment on the modifications. A little more shove would not be bad either. I used to be the fastest thing on a mountain with...

Members On the road, where are you now?

Mine runs from 5.25 to 7.5. Fuel quality seems to have nearly as much influence as speed. I've had everything serviced, no problems noted. I'm guessing that it is just geared to pull a big heavy stacker, not a jeep.

That is some great fuel economy!

Members On the road, where are you now?

We just came back just north of that route on 2 through MT and ND. Picked up 94 just before Fargo. Ran the turnpikes the rest of the way, like an idiot. Nothing like paying to drive 45mph through construction to really make you hate yourself! By the way, CdA is only about six hours from the...

    generator radiator protection?

if I were headed somewhere remote/rough again, I'd really want to relocate the generator air intake too.

    toad brakes?!

Fwiw, I went with the M&G air brakes, the mopar harness bush pilot recommended, and a blue ox baseplate and avail towbar. About 5000 miles so far. I like the simplicity of the air brakes and the ease of hooking the whole thing up. Really hate not being able to back up with the toad on!

    generator radiator protection?

It caught us on the prairie. Must have driven in it for over two hours. I don't think I've ever seen a thunderstorm that big.

    generator radiator protection?

The generator is directly behind the the rear tandems on the drivers side. I have submitted the claim to my insurance. I haven't heard the verdict yet.

    generator radiator protection?

It appears that the stator winding coating had failed. We were in an epic thunderstorm when we hit road construction. Water accumulated in the old road, held there by the newly paved lane next to it. Although the truck handled the deep water fine, the water shorted out the genset, the...

    generator radiator protection?

Well, I never got the screen fabricated. Fortunately, rocks haven't caused a problem yet. Unfortunately, I did manage to "drown" the generator in a tremendous thunderstorm between Saskatoon, SK and Edmonton, AB. A new stator, air filter, fuel pump and fuel filter later, we were back on the...

    generator radiator protection?

An expanded metal grate does seem to be in order. If it weren't for the threat of of occasional gravel roads on my trip, I would not give it a second thought. The fact that there isn't any aftermarket product or option from Onan or Renegade, that I can find, may indicate that I am...

    generator radiator protection?

Ok, another confession here. I have an intimate knowledge of everything between the front drive axle and the oil pan on my Renegade. However, yesterday was the first time I managed to slither under the rear end of the rig. I was just exploring, trying to learn the location of some stuff, and...

Caulking trim or track or whatever it is

Spoke to technical support at Renegade today. They said that they use white silicone, but that either material would work. He also recommended that I remove the center cover and remove and reseal each screw! I think I'll tackle that one later and just seal the top of the trim for now.

Caulking trim or track or whatever it is

I picked at it a bit today. Looks like silicone, but i guess the Dicor would be a good fix too, especially since I already have a tube of it. I'll try to get an answer out of Renegade in the morning.
