I think that Gen. I autoshift will go on a pretty old truck. The Gen I and II still have the clutch pedal to get the rig rolling and stopped. Everything else is done by the computer. Then they went with other trans when they eliminated the clutch pedal.

I wouldn't consider a custom build using a manual trans. Even if you are fine driving it you're going to have problems letting others drive it. Like on a long drive with friends/family for instance. William, are you having a rig custom built from scratch? Doesn't seem to be the most frugal way to go? You can find lots of used rigs for pennies on the dollar. As for building, I too believe NRC is a great builder. Did you check into Hawk Engineering too? Similar construction types I think.
