    Freight liner Engine Brake

What gear are you in when you say the Jake doesn't hold. It won't hold anything in high gear, you have to downshift it into probably 9 or 10 (with a 13 speed) to feel the hold. When I got my C15 rerated I considered changing the Jake to operate with the cruise on but left well enough alone.

    Front Axle Capacity

DeepVee-look into joining FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association). They have a "national program" with Michelin and you can't believe the deals. My 365's were around $1060 for a pair and that included mount and balance.

    Front Axle Capacity

So the new Freightliner Cascadia with an18000 lb front axle has 315 80R22.5 tires on it. This tire is spec'd at 9090 lbs per tire at 130 psi. When I ordered my 2007 Century with a 16000 lb front axle the 315 were the tires that came from the factory. After the conversion and I scaled at...

    Too Heavy?

Originally we were going to tow a trailer and put 2 Harley's and a Tracker inside. Then sweetheart decided to sell her bike and we reevaluated pulling a trailer. So we figured we would tow the Tracker behind the conversion-hmmmm. That just wasn't going to look right (call me anal) so now we...

My new to me 2005 Kenworth Showhauler

Nice rig, congrats. Why don't you scale the rig and check your axle weights, many manufacturers are surprised how heavy these beasts become after they are built. I upsized my springs, rims and tires after I checked mine.

    NRC Update

I saw a posting on Facebook that all the trucks in production were saved. Looks like they will be working out of the rear facility for now and probably rebuild the front half at a later date. Good to see them stick around.

    Steer Axle Conversion

I gather you are not using the truck for work anymore. If you are converting to an RV why not wait until after the conversion is done, weigh the beast and then figure out which wheels, springs and rims you should have. I had to increase my springs to 18000 and put 365 series tires with wider...

    Ride Height/Ground Clearance

That is the same style hitch I originally built before the truck was converter. I thought it was better than what was installed because it gave better protection for grounding out but the manufacturing company thought otherways. They installed a hitch built at VRT Industries (or maybe under...

    Volvo help!

I Googled Volvo VED12 shutdown and there is some info available online. Of course it is vague but it may give you some other ideas other than what has been tried. Good luck

    Volvo help!

As a retired mechanic, I have run into intermittent problems my whole career. Unless I was there for when it showed up the chances of finding the problem were fairly remote. I would be wary of driving this if it quits while on the road. My thoughts are to phone other Volvo dealers or go on a...

    Volvo 730 as RV Hauler

Did you get permits to drive that commercial vehicle home/stop at scales? Just curious cause I ran into problems driving my Freightliner from Washington state to Indiana when I had the conversion done.

Anyone interested in a set of front steer tires and wheels?

If you are at 14k why not use a 9" rim and upgrade to 315/80R22.5 tires (9090 lb per) I see that there are 2 different offsets to the 12.25 rim and those big floats are usually speed rated at 65 mph. PM me if you want

Anyone interested in a set of front steer tires and wheels?

I took a set of 315's mounted on Alcoa Durabrite rims with a little more wear than that and got $600 for the pair. I installed a pair of 365/70R22.5 XZA and new 10.5" wide Durabrite rims. I think next time I would use a different offset wheel to get a little more steering angle. Also installed...

    Dual Tire Pressure Equalization

Welcome aboard. I looked at this system a couple of times but didn't like the cluttered look. I hammer the tires every morning and do walk arounds during the day. Check the pressure before leaving and generally when we going to be stopped for a while.

    Generator options, need help.

I have the Onan QD12500 and is pretty quite (matter of fact it is lower than National Park sound level requirements) The only thing I would change is to install the gen set in a rear baggage compartment rather than midship installation.

    Question about conversion costs

I had NRC in Middlebury convert my low mileage Freightliner (34000 miles)and there was no way I could get a truck like this for your kind of dollars. As far as the conversion costs at a dealer level it is going to be significantly more than your estimate. Take a look on a site called...
