    travel trailer on a truck

I well made travel trailer should have the center of gravity slightly ahead of the center pivot on the axle. Use this to figure out where to place the trailer on the truck.

    Gas Springs

My RV uses a spring cylinder on the interior cabinet doors to hold them up. This device has a standard coil spring inside of a tube. These springs look and work very much like the gas spring cylinders. I like the real springs because the gas/oil will never leak out and cause them to fail...

7 brands of tires on my truck!

I like to see al of the tires on any given axle match. Different tires will pull differently and sometimes work against each other causing heating and excessive wear problems. You also want all the the tires on an axle to have the same amount of wear. Since the tires are mixmatched you should...

    Murphy's Law Motorsports Toy hauler

The fifth wheel and truck camper will be an excellent source for parts. The windows from the 5er could work well also. You can study floor layouts for very small campers and truck campers for ideas. One thing that won't transfer well from the camper is the tub/shower because the tub takes to...

    Generator options, need help.

You might consider a little different approach. Maybe you could find an RV generator to use. RV generators a MUCH smoother, and more quiet than portable units and are often more fuel efficient. Everyone around will thank you for not using a portable unit. The RV unit is often connected to...

    mini split ac

Thanks Doc. If I install a minisplit it will be located on a side wall near the rear of the unit. I am worried about air circulation to tbe bed above the cab.

My FLD 120 has at least a 1" line between tanks. They should equalized pretty fast.

How thick should the concrete be?

mmmc is probably about right @ 5". It depends a lot on the type of soil that will be under it. Your concrete will not be much better than the base it is poured on. Use 3500-4000# with fiver for the "easiest" job.

    mini split ac

You mounted the outside unit in a lower compartment just like Dad did with his Prevost. It looks like the air handler is near the front on a side wall. Does it circulate air throughout the coach like that? If I go minisplit I will have a similar situation and I'm worried about it being able...

    And so the adventure begins.

There are some good ideas here but also some of you are making this way to hard. Go ahead and use an apartment model refrigerator. They use less power, are bigger, and work better than RV refers. The standard unit will stay cold for a long time if you leave the door closed. My parents have...

Converting a diesel tank to a race fuel tank.

Should work fine. Northern tool has several pumps which will work well. fuel pump from Northern Tool + Equipment Just make sure that you isolate the left and right tanks. There is a crossover line there now.

    Air Bags

I really don't think that you will like the box moving around on the truck. Probably best to get a truck with air ride suspension and mount the box solid to the frame.

    air side conversion??

Doc has a good solution by removing some spring leafs. Mekanic, that should work. Make sure that the gear ratio and drive shaft connections match your truck before you get to deep into the project. Be sure to get the ride height valve and suspension stops off of the donor truck.

    air side conversion??

Bob is correct about the firm ride. I suspect that the air ride axle will be better though. Spring suspension has to loaded to near its capacity for it to ride nice. It will probably be relatively simple to swap axles.

    Entry door insulation?

the door probably has a ridgid foam core in it now. If it is hollow I would explore the spray foam options for filling the cavity without disassembling the door. Just be sure to get a product which will not expand and cause the door skin to bulge out.
