    box mounting

    i don't know of any reason wood has to be in there. just keep u bolts tight. may want to weld some plates on to box rail and bolt to frame rail. need to figure out what you are using for cab boot or seal. if cab is mounted on rubber pads not air ride you can go 1 1/2" to 2" space.

    went to tow411.net most of them are putting cloth in rims and using straps through rims. i like the idea of mounted stop blocks in front of tires and just straping down rear. what about cutting floor and dropping down floor and welding pockets for tires to set in.

    Just did a est. for a tractor frame strech. customer supplying frame rails. $1500.00 for labor, driveshaft, electrical and air lines. we drill a small hole and use tapered reemers to drill frames. use lots of oil to keep cool. we have to cut frame rails off 2nd truck as part of job.

    started working on floor. went to the rv show in chicago and got alot of ideas. bought a trailer that has a set of hydraulic legs on rear. will post pictures. hope these work for levelers and supports for rear when loading pickup.

    got rear section of frame stripped down and cut to fit today. will be welding on by weekend. will post more pictures then. ordered steel for coach and they delivered yesterday. 3) 4x4x20ft and 50) 2x2x24ft pieces. cost just under $3,000.00 shopped around and had to work salesman alittle.

    when you go to single axle truck that rear axle probly wont be heavy enough. most single axles are rated heavier. also make sure steer tires are right ply and weight rating. i know the dot watches this on dump trucks in il. even tandem axles.

    Frame mounts question

    how are you mounting back end to cab? using old boot? how much spacing do you need? i think i would put crossmembers where mounts go and just reuse them. dont weld to top or bottom of frame flanges. only weld to sides of frame.

    I think i would streach frame also. you can get 2 wreckers to lift bus real easy. Or jack up and put on stands. back truck under bus and tie down. we have been getting same size frame and up by transmission area frame gets bigger. slide frame up to old frame till it gets tight. bolted frames...
