I have that same hydraulic crimper - its $54 at Harbor Freight IIRC i thought i picked it up for slightly less during one of their better sale days. Amazon has a similar one for $46

    I get a "DO OVER! "

my step "lock out" switch is in a similar location (low near the floor), and i added some LED lighting under the step (to back light the step) and put the switch next to the lockout switch too...w/ the same idea in mind, just open the door reach in and touch the swith

    I get a "DO OVER! "

looks really nice. I'm curious why you mounted the panel (with frequently used switches) so low on the floor. Don't you think you'll get tired of bending over to turn things on and off while in the coach?

    Stuck between trucks

wow thats a huge model/manufacture year gap....someone definitely custom spec'd that and took their own truck in to Haulmark to build. an MBE coupled to a 13 speed? most are coupled to a smart-shift 12 speed. sounds very custom - and id say w/ the extra (13th) gear it would do well (if it were...

    Kenworth T300

one think ill say (that i WISH we had) was either hidden (or even open) storage under the steps. if your building it put some storage either under the step tread (hinged door) or behind the step/riser - it would make a great place to hide shoes or a dust pan & brush etc. our steps are metal so...

    Kenworth T300

id say DUMP the sleeper - passengers can always sit on a couch in the "house". I've seen several custom trucks w/ sleepers and they just don't seem to flow well on the interior....even when they do flow well visually on the exterior.

    Alaska Travel

1st Welcome to the forum. I would not want to make a maiden voyage so far. I would recommend that you do some local camping - call it dry runs or shake down trips....youll gain a LOT of insight to what you may and may not need to take with you as well as you pick up the skills necessary to...

    Rear Bumpers?

I would agree with you Bob - i have wished for a ladder, just to have a place to put my flag, instead i have to use a mount under the tire.

    Rear Bumpers?

Our coach was never built w/ a ladder  - further proof that everyone of these things (even when purchased from a mfg) are "custom" one-off. I contacted Haulmark, who directed me to their dealer network....and i was receiving quotes of 500+ (not including installation). I bought a...

A (pto / hydraulic) wet kit isn't necessary. Plenty of folks build car/jeep hauling mechanism using simple electric winches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGWrYat-uHs

Both occurrences were for tag issues - no front tag and no tag sticker (in the window). I think it was really an excuse to ask about the coach and what was in it. Both times I invited them to come inside and look....after they saw our sheep dog and my concealed carry permit they declined.

NO CDL is required. Especially if the HDT (or MDT) is registered as an rv. theres a guy in calgary (i know its far from you) that modifies & sells used HDT's for 5th wheel/toter home pulling, he retitles the HDTs from commercial to RVs....he could probably tell you whats involved in re-titling...

welcome to the fray! at least in the states there is no CDL (commercial drivers license) needed for a PRIVATE RV, you may need an "air brake endorsement" (class b). I've been stopped 2 times, and neither time did they check to see if i had any special endorsements.
