Thanks Geof! Sounds like you do a good solid common-sense conversion! Too bad yer waaaaay over in Cincy, O-how. Oh well, it'll get done by someone somewhat reputable, someday! Thanks again! Gary

2005 Renegade Toter, Freightliner M2 Chassis, 181k miles on ebay.

Hey 'Dog- I'm glad I asked- As Geof says(sorta) above, "Great minds DO think alike!" I wasn't trying to be a smartass (on re-reading, it might come off that way!), I just wanted to see what your reasoning was to post all those RV ads. I'm actually glad you do it, as it shows that there's really...

2005 Renegade Toter, Freightliner M2 Chassis, 181k miles on ebay.

BravestDog- What kind of rig are you looking for- or are you actually in the market? The reason I ask is that you post ads for everything possible, then ask our opinions on them. Do you have something in mind, or are you just gathering info on everything that hits the used market? Just...

    Length Limits

Chevy57Pkup- Maybe you should tell us exactly what you are confused about. You mention talking to CHP officers about this, which tells me you are (or have been) in Calif. IF in fact you live or travel thru Calif., you live by Calif. rules, which say 65' max length, no matter what, because I...

    Spooner

Marc, I have to admit, the "page 8" reference had me scratching my head too. Must be an East Coast thing........ Around here the phrase goes something like "he doesn't know his a** from a hole in the ground". Pretty obvious, but gets the message across...... Have fun... Gary

Looking for input on the series 50 Detroit

Kirk- The Series 50's I've seen or heard about USUALLY had approx. 330-350 HP, which isn't too bad for RV use. Torque numbers don't ring a bell right now, but figure about 2/3 of what a 500HP series 60 would have. That will at least get you in the ball park. I hope this helps you! Gary

1991 GMC Custom Conversion, 28' box, 21' living, 7' garage, $30k obo, on ebay.

And all this time I thought a grille w/ diagonal bar meant "VOLVO". Who knew......... Not a bad layout, but for sure I would have found a way to walk from cab to camper, that plus the addition of skirts around the "coach" section, and some aluminum wheels would really transform the looks for the...

    RECALL WARNING: VOLVO TRUCK

There is no actual "Purebreed" Volvo model; however it probably means any VNM, VNL, or VHD Volvo truck with a Volvo engine, in this case, the D12D.

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

The access panel does allow one to CHECK stuff, but to do actual maintenance, like changing oil and filters and other PM stuff, the cab's gotta tilt, and in the normal RV situation that includes the necessary level of clutter that a family situation seems to dictate, that can be a real PITA...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

I would say that, when an overhang is built over the cab of a COE, the most common thought would be,"OOOOPS!!". Either that or the genius in question has a real brainstorm on how to do the most basic (like say, oil & filter changes) maintenance items, like cutting a huge gaping hole in the...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

I think Wallik meant that he saw NO Conventionals, ONLY COE's. So settle down, unlock and unload the artillery, have a cool one, and mellow out. There, isn't that better? I know I'm feeling MUCH better now! Gary PS An oxymoron describes contradictory terms, like "military intelligence" or...
