OK folks for those keeping score: Plan #1 Unbolt-the-axle-slide-it-up-then-whack-the-frame: 2 Plan #2 Hack-frame-in-2(actually 3)-reweld-w/o-extra-pcs: 0 Kinda lop-sided so far Gary (who's having waaaay too much fun this late @ nite)

I would think (and numerous truck folks seem to agree) that your second method of sliding everything forward then chopping off the rear would be more sound, only because you would still have your framerails uncut or modified (except for a few extra holes, which are NOT a concern here). No matter...

If there is a truck conversion mag around, I have neither seen nor heard anything about it, and I've been looking; REALLY looking! So I have a feeling such an aminal doth not exist. Too bad, 'cuz I think it would be a mover. Oh well, maybe someday.....

Conventional or Cabover. Which looks best?

All that frame, engine, radiator, hood, etc. will absorb a heck of a lot of energy that YOU would absorb if you were in front of most of that stuff. It's only logical. Sure, the amount of energy absorbed by all that equipment might be limited compared to what is passed on back, but that is WAY...

    fl70 suspension

I have since checked the Donvel site; it is a different product than Brock's. The Donvel setup acts more to stabilize than to soften the ride like Brock's does. On Brock's setup the rear of the front spring is disconnected and an airspring is installed between the rear of the spring and the...

You can; I don't know if you saw the "gallery" of pix (see his above post), but each can be enlarged just by clicking on it. I get the gallery by clicking on the topic "geddyupgo" in the index. Maybe your 'puter is configured different....

    fl70 suspension

Is this Donvel's own kit or are they selling the Brock's "Add a Ride" kit? Sounds like a good deal either way; I'm just curious as to whether there was another player in the front air-ride market besides Brock's.

    1995 Conversion on ebay.

The best part of this deal for me? This guy is LOCAL! Well, to me at least. Probably wouldn't hurt to call and at least see what these guys can do..... One never knows until one asks, and asking is free, at least so far.....

Me? Picking on anybody? C'monnnnn! I was just making a little, how you say, linguistic commentary..... Yeah, that's the ticket! (Some one send the paramedix to the Kaye residence; he's having breathing difficulties again.....)

Hey Fastlap! I would LOVE to see some pictures of your conversion, as it sounds like it would be VERY similar to what I would do, except I would not build above the sleeper(personal tastes, etc). Keep us all posted on progress, as I'm sure I'm not the only one whose curiosity is piqued! Gary

    2005 ToolSet 24' Motorhome

Nice unit! Would it be rude to ask about how much it cost to build, not counting cost of the truck? It looks pretty close to what I might want, except I would prefer the drive axle a bit more forward for better maneuverability. I would put air-ride (probably Brock's Ad-A-Ride) on the front, so...

Why not a Class 6 truck conversion ?

My thoughts EXACTLY! Once in a while I find myself looking at what might be a "good deal" on a MD truck for my future rig, then realize that for the same, or LESS, money I could get a Class 8 with ALL the above-mentioned advantages. What a reality check! It ALWAYS comes back to the obvious...
