    Where's Geof?

I just E-mailed him and said to drop by here once in a while. I think what bothered him is that some of his posts didn't make it here entirely intact; who knew? Gary

VMS 240 CL Diesel Engine Monitoring System

WOW! Talk about comprehensive info-getters. Like Ed McMahon used to reply to Johnny's info-spiels; "EVERYTHING you wanna know about your truck, is in these boxes!!!" Anybody dare say, "Wrong, Diesel-breath"? I think not..... Gary

    Where's Geof?

He E-mails me an endless stream of (mostly)humorous items, but has not told me what's up with his post-stoppage. Maybe I'll reply to one of his jokes with an inquiry about this turn of events. I'll keep y'all posted..... Gary I did the above; the ball's in his court.....

    mileage/h.p.

This sounds like a well-thought-out product, going by the mfr's literature above. NOT just a simple air-ride, but a carefully-controlled and damped air suspension system. What are your thoughts Bill? Gary

    Mercedes MBE 926 Motor

BOY am I glad WE have a sense of humor!?!?! Actually I couldn't resist, and am glad butt is still intact...... Carry on........ Gary PS- OHH!! and thanks Alan for the info! I was curious, 'cuz the rig looked pretty balanced. Again, NICE!

    Mercedes MBE 926 Motor

You and I BOTH know this, but hey, these guys already have their trucks, must live with the limitations inherent to them, thus must somehow feel good about their decisions. I'm only trying to help.....a little......(uh oh, here come Bill and Alan to kick my butt...;-) Gary

    2006 Transport Designs

Thanks Alan! Still a very reasonable price considering the overall high-quality work done in the coach. You are gonna have a blast in that thing, plus it will be relatively easy to park and maneuver into campground slots, even the non-pull-thrus; backing will be a cinch! See the thread on...

    Mercedes MBE 926 Motor

Hey Alan- While 330HP is always good, I have a feeling that your unit should fairly well fly down the road with 300 HP, especially not pulling a trailer. That is gonna be a FUN rig to drive, I'll just bet. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your new rig! Upon seeing the pics, I feel...

    2006 Transport Designs

Awww, Mase, you ain't foolin' anybody around here- you DO want all that power, gears, and loooong-legged gears, if for nothin' else than to do the job in a proper manner.......at least I would.......

    Truck ride

Bill- On looking back, what is your opinion of the Brock's Ad-A-Ride? I'm thinking of using it on whatever I build, mainly to knock the sharp edges off the front axle ride quality, but maybe The Donvel setup deserves a look, as you've said above. Maybe a little more thoroughly thought-out, by...

    2006 Transport Designs

Waddayamean "cute"! This is a TRUCK fercryinoutloud! (Boy! What is this world coming to? ;-). Yeah. It is one COOL rig! It could be mine, with very little change. One question, though. Does the 65K include the 12K for the slideout? I really don't care to have a slideout (personal...

    2006 Transport Designs

WHOA! That is JUST the size I have in mind(give or take)! Sweet rig! Alan, If you don't mind, could you divulge the approx cost of the conversion, excluding the truck? Not to be nosey(OK, I'm nosey....), I'll have an idea what I'm up against. Thanks! Gary

Hey Bill! Muchas Gracias! Gonna put in the order tomorrow (too late for today). How are things going on the truck motor? Gary

    Truck ride

Good call on the seat, Bill. You probably have much more personal knowledge on those things than I do. BTW, and I know this is a little(??) off topic, but can you tell me which wheel polish you used to advertise on the home page of this site? I gotta polish the wheels on my pickup, went to check...

    Truck ride

    1. The seat might be riding too close to either the top or bottom of its travel. It should "float" w/ road bumps, etc., not bounce. 2. Might need lower (higher number) rear gears. Remember, a CLass 8 truck will not accelerate like a high-powered pickup truck, no matter which engine you have...

    Mercedes MBE 926 Motor

Like I said before- I would be P----D to the max if it happened to me, just as Warpath is, I'm sure. It does sound, however, like Freightliner (or Daimler-Chrysler) will make good on it, as they should. Best of luck to you on this fiasco, Bill, and please keep us posted. It IS appreciated! Gary

    2006 Toolset Coach on a 99 Volvo VN610

Nothing wrong with that either, I guess; so long as they're double-pane to retain heat/cold, and have shades/curtains for the same reason and to regulate light levels.....

    2006 Toolset Coach on a 99 Volvo VN610

I see your point; if large enough and properly located, 2 windows in the "living" area and one or two in the rear bedroom would actually do quite nicely....... Gary

101 questions about doing my own conversion...

The M2 can be had with the engines you mention (I THINK), but only in the 112 version, not the 106. Also, tandem axles normally have about 40,000# capacity, and singles up to 23,000#.

101 questions about doing my own conversion...

I think the way to go would be to find a truck with air ride rear suspension (no-brainer, at least 80% come that way), put in air-suspended seats for driver AND passenger, then put a Brock's Ad-a-Ride front air suspension kit (ask Warpath about this one). I would say that between all this air...

    M2 suitable for this application?

Boy Warpath, I can well imagine you being royally p---ed at not getting the power you paid for! At least they're making good on it. As was said, it will be nice having all 330 ponies on call! Have a great one! Gary

101 questions about doing my own conversion...

A few notes on "Class 8 Truck Ride"- About 3 weeks ago I rode along with a co-worker from Astoria, Oregon to Central Calif. in a T600 Kenworth with a new 20' forage box for a truck bed. This truck had air ride rear susp., NON-air ride cab, and the driver got an air-seat. The passenger (me) got...
