    advice on mounting bed

Jimbo yes, strips of oak (1x4" should be ok for a low profile) and U-bolts is a good way to mount a utility bed. however if you plan to haul a camper on it i would suggest you use rubber body mounts and fabricated frame brackets. check out AV Anti-Vibration rubber mount Products hope that helps

thanks Travis the work on the Pete is going slow (lots of other work) at least got the granit glued down (floating on a thick bed of silicon ) its a highly polished dark greenish-black granit with silver flakes in it a friend of us did the granit work; he made a large radius...

    curved sides on conversion box

ha, thats funny ; i made that pic in PaintShopPro. looks like we will soon start building it the goal is to keep the rig under 35' and with no slide-outs; the (soon to be) owner (and good friend of us) is also into dune buggies (he actualy has one of our buggies ) so the truck will be...

    curved sides on conversion box

ooopppsss .... thats photoshopped another one: but we are currently shopping for a Pete 387 for a friend and we will do something very similar looking. Current plan is a 35foot total length moho, partially two level and the complete cab/ex sleeper/moho box air suspended When we start...

Hi Mike welcome to the board where are you from? Walter im originaly from switzerland and i can tell you that i sometimes daydream about doing a trip to europe just for the fun of it . picture our Pete at 75 mph (120kmh...the legal speed limit here in AZ) in the passing line.... it gets...

    2 rigs on ebay.

IMHO they look just as cheesy as a standard dieselpusher i bet all that plastic would start to fall of the first time you take that "thing" on a dirt road. sorry, i just dont like "RV" stuff like that.

    What is legally required

sounds like a realy nice (= oh, im so important ) paperpusher to me. dont give up! may check on the Escapee board; contact "gkbiker", he is from GA and has a KW T2000/5th wheel rig registered as "RV"

    Cobratrailers or Wildside, M2 - CL120 - Century

Walter, CA is tricky with twinscrew. You need a non commercial class A for it, with single rear (and trailer under 10000 lbs) the regular license should be ok. IMHO forget the M2 106, limited to too small engines. With a M2 112 you could get a bigger engine, but when you are going used, use...

What does a novice need to know?

Michael i hope my brother jumps in here and answers no 1+2+6 (he knows the legal stuff a lot better ) 3; max legal height is 13'6". however, we try to keep the roofline of our Toter as low as possible. for us the Totertruck is our (almost) daily driver; its a lot easier to "get around" if we...

    motorhome/toterhome

Anthony, I really hope your conversion is lighter then 80,000lbs. but I do not talk about GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight). I ask it as simple as I can now : 1. how much is your front axle weight rating ? the number should be somewhere in your doorframe. My Pete 379 says 12000 lbs front axle...

    motorhome/toterhome

Anthony, looked at your website and I have one question. Knowing that setback axle trucks are regularly close to the max front axle weight, do you not have a problem with that long wheelbase overloading the front axle?

Help me to dress up my toterhome

Hancock there are only two styles of 10-lug bigrig rims: rims that are centered by the lug nuts (conical seat on the nuts) or hub pilots (flat "washer" lug nuts; the rim is centered on the hub by the big center hole) to polish aluminum check with your local fire department; they are experts...

What does a novice need to know?

Michael sorry, this will be a long post and not my native language; i hope you can read it ) sounds like a great plan ...but IMHO pulling a full conversion (and a 3500lbs car) with a Cummins 8.2 together with a Allison will be painfull slow (not only on the grades ) i highly recomend you...

Why is this trucks wheel base so long?

as a hard core gear head i love to see trucks all tricked out ...but i agree, sometimes its just too much (billybigrigger ) its the same with hot rods or sand rails; if you hang it full of "bling-bling" so that it can barely move its a POS to me

Why not a Class 6 truck conversion ?

tony, I agree 100%. I did the same mistake with a International 4900... D R the International I had was about that, 34 feet long and towing about 4000 to 5000 lbs trailer. In California it was kinda ok. keeping it below 60 mph gave me a not too bad milage and you could still talk in the cab...

Why is this trucks wheel base so long?

Bill, then I have read too much into your post. The two trucks in the post above are maybe a little over the top. But I like the custom trucks and most I see here in AZ run chassis with 285 to 310 wheelbase(basically about 2' to 4' longer then extended hood pete 379) and have 40" to 48"...

Why not a Class 6 truck conversion ?

price is not bad and warranty sounds fine ... but 8.1 l gas engine. I hope you drive only in flat area and 55 mph max. that poor little engine will scream OTR. What is the fuel milage they make ?

Why not a Class 6 truck conversion ?

Chuck we did a (ex penske lease) international 4900. check our website for pics : http://sandcentral.net/trucks/ would not do it again; you can get a class 7/8 for the same money, that is the same outside size, makes the same mpg, but has 2x the hp and 3x the torque.... with a cab and a...

    2000 Supreme Toterhome

i have some leftovers (we removed one axle and we will change to 24.5" rims anyway) they are "hub pilot" style with the freightliner sawblade design (4 outside and 4 inside) and i have also two fronts with the standard round hole design. you could also polish two of the FL rears on the other...

    2000 Supreme Toterhome

i have to check that out in the evening one word of caution; watch your front axle weight. you have a long wb and the rear axle is all the way in the back; when you remodel try to move all the heavy stuff to the back i did the mistake on our old international; i replaced the fuel tanks...

Why is this trucks wheel base so long?

Bill, I think it is hard put O/O (sorry Gary ... Owner/Operator ) in the same boat with the delivery driver. I'm pretty sure the front of your business is nice looking, makes a good first impression for customers. So why is it rediculous for a truck driver to do the same. And it looks like...
