need to add that the cab>to>sleeper and the sleeper>to>box have "walk thru" openings and there is a fold up shade roof over the rear door and a slide out landing platform with steps that store in the rear compartment over the hitch

timmyt hmmmm.....sounds like a interesting body. was the body solid mounted or on rubber pucks?

btw here is a pic of how the van bodies are usualy mounted: the end of the box is welded to the frame (welding on the end of the frame is "kind of" ok) the rest sits on oak 2x4 strips and is U-bolted to the frame. hope that helps

Timmy DONT weld them on! try to fab up some BOLT ON body mounts frame rails are heat treated high strenght steel; the heat of the weld will drasticly reduce the strenght of the rails. got any pics of the mount? maybe i can give you some ideas

we just did a roadtrip: AZ -> Great Falls, Montana -> AZ : 2200 miles in 3 days .... we made about 9.5 miles per gallon @ 65 mph with flatbed trailer.

not much info in that add..... but i agree with James; that automatic will kill a 300 hp engine. add a big trailer and that thing will be painfull slow on any hill

Gary yes, i agree that rounded corners make it look more finished. we will build the box in the exact same shape like the sleeper (will not be easy but i like challenges anyway ) finaly we got our nice AZ weather back

Our Pete has a 12ooo lbs front axle and 19000 lbs rears. the factory weight tag reads 17490 lbs. we removed the sleeper,holland 5th wheel and one axle. i guess the loaded total will be 26000 lbs max after conversion

hey Randy yes, 81" is not much (for a 6'3" guy like me) but there will be no roof AC (we plan to use a low mounted "mini split" style unit) and no over the cab bunk (i think they look plain ugly; we will reuse the stock unibilt sleeper front/roof part) the Pete is more of a SURV (sport utility...
