    Toterhome valuation

cjsracing, It may be hard to get finaning unless you go to a lender that knows these units. NADA does not have correct or accurate data, so they don't come close to the true used value. Renegade is in the process of accumulating historical data from dealers in order to submit to NADA to help...

    RV stop at weigh stations??

cummins1279, Check with your state regarding weight rated class of license. I know that here in Illinois we have a non-CDL class A or B rating specifically for the heavier non-commercial vehicles including motorhomes. Bob

    Looking for Toter

Porschemann, you can get an adapter to haul your fifth wheel trailer on a gooseneck hitch. Otherwise, if you don't want a toterhome with bathroom, etc.-why not get a used single axle tractor? Bob

    Where to Start

Kevin, make sure you get air ride, otherwise the vibration will really hurt your conversion. www.truckpaper.com or www.hwtcinc.com to find used trucks. Good Luck!! Bob

    M2 suitable for this application?

Matt, Yes it was an M2-106, the only change was raising the cab 5" to fit the bigger radiator, more space in wheel wells but same engine cowl. Warpath, you will like the power difference of 1000 lb/ft!!! Bob

    the Skinny on Optima...

You don't hear much about Optima because they are new and somewhat higher priced than some of the others. They had some problems when they first started, but I heard that they are straightened out now. They are very nice and are loaded with standard features and nice interior packages. Bob

    Expected discount

The mark-up on the conversions is probably less than most of you think it is. I've seen dealers sell for barely 5% over cost, not enough to stay in business if done very often. Many of the conversion dealers started out as trailer dealers making a few hundred dollars per unit, that may be one of...

    M2 suitable for this application?

Matt295, we built a 2410 United Specialties garage last year for a motocross customer. We used the M2 crew cab chassis with twin screws. The MBE w/ 330HP 1000 torque was perfect with plenty of power. Freightliner raises the cab 5", I believe, to fit the larger radiator. Make sure you get extra...

    Need input planning new conv

Bob, wick is right on that. Ask Freightliner Select Trucks dealer about the reconfigured day cab program. Freightliner takes condo sleeper trucks off lease and converts them to day cabs. You decide which parts to replace or upgrade- you decide which color to paint. Interiors are new and...

    Haulmark vs Renegade vs Showhauler?

Brad, First- let me say that I sell Renegade and United Specialties, I used to sell Haulmark and I have had all three as demos. I drive truck conversions about 20,000 miles a year. The 6 big manufacturers- (Renegade, Haulmark, United Specialties, NRC, Showhauler and Optima) all put out a very...

    Pony Xpress

batsport, I checked them out at the PRI show last year. They will be at PRI show next week in Orlando. Very well made. I am about to be a new Pony Xpress dealer and am in the process of ordering a Pony Xpress toter on one of our used FL-70's. They had built one of these last year but most are...

    Haulmark vs. Renegade

geof, thanks? I think. I try to be as honest as I can and hope that I can help someone. I don't hide that I am a dealer and I try not to be a salesman for my products on these forums. If I am ever out of line, I would expect to be called on it. Bob

Advice needed. How should I build those wood ramps that you drive up on to level?

If you use those plastic blocks under your levellers, make sure you double the pad size and double the thickness, they will bend and break under a conversion if the soil is at all soft. I left quite a few buried in the sod the first time I tried them under the levelling pads Bob

    build quality

fastlap, we have a Renegade in our shop for service with 360,000 miles and I have seen plenty with 80,000 to 100,000 with the srtuctural integrity of a new model. The older FRP may fade, but it can be buffed out easily. If any of those manufacturers' coaches are damaged, it is not the easiest...

    Twin Screw

I have driven motorhomes with both single axle and tandem axle, loaded and empty. The ride is not rougher with the twin screw. I have weighed quite a few motorhomes and I have from 2,000 to 4,000 lbs. of payload remaining before being overloaded on a 30' or 32' conversion. Bob

    Haulmark vs. Renegade

Tom123, If you did not order yet, make sure that your dealer shows you the latest interior. Haulmark changed parts of the interiors and your dealer may not have the latest color schemes to show you.- IMHO they have more of a travel trailer look than they did before the change. I am biased...

    M2 or Columbia?

pjcnlv, I agree that you will be better off with the Columbia. One more reason would be the cab cut-out in the M2 is so low that it is uncomfortable except for a smaller and more nimble person than myself. You will more than make up the price difference if you ever want to sell it or trade up...

Dog interior. Has anyone designed their rig to include dog kennels?

BravestDog, some of the dog show people and breeders use a motorhome with garage to store multiple dogs inside their kennels, either strapped down or permanently in place. A normal garage unit works as long as there is an air conditioner (or prepped for one) and a fan-tastic fan or two. Bob

SST, remember that the legal limit, I believe is 45' overall length in most if not all states. You will find that most motorhome manufacturers only make a 34' box as their largest. Look for Elburn Bill's pictures and floorplan on this forum, he has a very nice Kingsley, I've seen it and I...
