starting a business building truck conversions

My gut feeling is people don't want to have any hassle with the DOT and that unless you've driven a truck the thought of doing so is more daunting than driving a 45' conversion (nope, I don't get it either).

    Water Heaters

Personally no way I'd ever go with Geoffs ideas on the all electric setup. I'm also not going to empty and manually refill the water heater. I'm too damned lazy and a like how much heat a propane furnace pushes out quickley.

    Warpath

#2 square bit for sure. Dewalt bits seem to last longest and work best. The 8 points make it just that much quicker to get the bit set in it. They actually do work better than a phillips, not sure on a comparison to a torx one.

    What is legally required

Try looking through here using the search function - http://www.legis.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/gl_codes_detail.pl?code=1-1-1 It is legalese and slightly confusing but I didn't find it too hard to understand. Still no time to do the legwork right now but I will if I can.

    What is legally required

Your toter is a motorhome so if a regular motorhome is legal so is the toter. As for air brakes - DOT officer or not, he's wrong as far as everything I've found reading the GA laws and talking to lawyers on occasion - if it's an RV you are exempt from the air brake issue in Georgia, other...

    Interrior of a conversion!!!

LOL!!!! It's the Ikea RVea... Definitely different, I like it but not sure I'd buy one that way - then again I kind of like the oak myself.

Conventional or Cabover. Which looks best?

I prefer the conventional look personally but th main reason I'd stay away from cabover is ride. Never know a trucker that liked them. I also wouldn't want to deal with tilting the front to get ot the motor or the issues that would cause with a seal to the rear.

    Haulmark vs. Renegade

FWIW I feel that selling the products gives you an insight we don't have and more info is always a good thing.

    Haulmark vs. Renegade

Well right now I'd buy a Haulmark in a heartbeat over Renegade purely because I've tried ordering parts for my Renegade trailer 3 different times over the last year and have gotten nothing. No parts, no return calls, no return emails, no contact whatsoever. Can't stand a place too busy trying...

Hmmm, mailwasher must have thought you were a spammer, I'll check it out.

    2001 Showhauler 29' on FL112

Yes it is - some minor changes have happened since the last pix were taken like removing the front carpet to install pergo style flooring (which isn't in yet) and some other minor things. My email is the same - wera at wera dot com for more info.

    45' Kenworth motorhome on ebay.

True But luckily nothing has shaken loose either, well some stuff has bounced around slightly but I-40 will do that to any vehicle....

    Water tank safety questions.

I flush mine with a bleach solution every so often, should take care if any potential issues. You can even add small amounts of bleach to ever fill up but I personally don't htink you need to go that far.

    45' Kenworth motorhome on ebay.

Why? Mine's the same setup and it's fine so far with 75k on it....

    45' Kenworth motorhome on ebay.

You're right it can't be, never looked closely at the exterior. The walls are wrong as is the top cap, SH doesn't do rounded. Not a Renegade either since their top piece where the walls meet the rook is different too if I remember correctly.

    45' Kenworth motorhome on ebay.

I'm 99% sure it's a Showhauler, interior looks way too much like mine to be anything else. As for the sleeper - personal preference would dictate that, I like it myself lind of like having a sitting room in an rv

Do any of the conversions like these hold their value according to blue book?

    FRP vs Aluminum siding questions.

Renegade does. I have an FRP trailer and aluminum skinned motorhome - they both have advantages and disadvantages, not sure yet which I prefer.

Fire in RV in Oakland, CA kills 2.

So what about the hundreds of thousands of rv's wiht propane on board that have never blow up or caught fire? Sorry but not having propane because of a minimal number of problems normally user caused doesn't make sense to me.

    Cb Radio cover

If it's like my FL112 business class interior you have to make one. I used some scrap aluminum diamond plate and then shot it flat black to match the other covers. Wil-Ro made or had one for the business class interior but I'm not sure if they sell them or just put them in their conversions...
