I have to adjust the stop point at the back of mine to keep it tight against the straight position and prevent the ' klunking ' sound.

I also struggle with only connecting and dropping within the 10 degrees of straight on. Makes it tough when backing in at an angle.

I do like the auto glide function. Mine fully clears the cab on my short bed.

Guess you take the bad with the good.
