Simple & cheap - CPVC drain extension. The "orange" store is the place and here is what you need: (1) #100048636 CTS Slip x MPT Male Adapter, (1) #10
8330-3862 Digital Thermostat, simple wire to wire install with exact same mounting screw location. Can't believe this is not standard already.
