Being an electrical engineer by training, I simply could not resist the challenge to make some wiring changes. Thinly veiled under "modifications and upgrades" of course.

In this photo, you will see: the switch on the very left was added to control the light over the dinette table. The switch on the very right was added to control the light over the bed. You will notice two thermostats. The one on the left is for the furnace, but it was originally where the one on the right is now. It was directly across from the furnace which was silly since every time the furnace goes on, the thermostat gets a blast of hot air and wants to shut the furnace off. Thus it would cycle on and off more than it should. The thermostat on the right is for the recessed electric heater I installed on the ceiling last fall. The electric heater is towards the left so it made sense to have it where the old furnace thermostat was.

The fun part was running wiring up and down inside walls, across the ceiling, under/around the bathtub and up/down the fridge cavity. I was only able to do all of this because I discovered that at the factory, somebody drilled a honking big hole in the top plate of the wall above the original furnace thermostat location into the ceiling cavity. This allowed me to get the wires up and down as needed. Man I was lucky on this....

Also, on the opposite side of the above wall where the bathroom is, I added a wall switch for the fan. DW could not reach the fan switch on the ceiling without a ladder. Again, the big hole in the top plate provided access for this fan wiring. That unecessarily big hole sure saved my bacon.
