Hey Folks,
Anyone ever licensed one of these trucks in Kentucky? I am really interested in converting one to pull a gooseneck race trailer and RV.

Thanks

Geof,
Do you know anyone personally that has licensed an HDT in KY? I have located a truck and still cannot get any information from the local county clerks office.
Thanks
Steve

You've got to do some searching on Kentucky's traffic statutes. I'll do some googling and see what I can find for you.

Do you want to register the tractor as a "recreational vehicle?" I found this about that: http://mvl.ky.gov/MVLWeb/PISer...rsonalizeIndicator=N

I also found this: http://mvl.ky.gov/MVLWeb/PISer...rsonalizeIndicator=N

Maybe that's how you want to register the tractor?

Also read this one: http://www.lrc.ky.gov/KRS/186-00/650.PDF

Looks like Kentucky is pretty lax about requirements to license something as a rv. You should see what MN requires.

Thanks for the replies. You will not believe what the local clerks office told me yesterday. I had called her earlier in the week to inquire about RV licensing. Her return call came yesterday and she informed me that when she processed my application for title and registration that all she had to do was change the registration from HDT to RV. I would then get RV tags. No mention of inspection for required items, etc. I am now going to buy this truck asap before they change their mind.
I will update as soon as I have the title and tags.
Thanks
Steve
