Default any Done a Mack

So been looking around want a volvo but have a dealer for Volvo , Mack, International in my back door, dealer support is important to me, no one locally has a pre emission Volvo, but there is a nice mack with an ac460 engine, thoughts on the ac460 I read good and bad an just about everything,
Another question what is the engine of choice, Cummins, Cat, Mack, MBE, Vovlo

Thanks in advance

I have been curious about Mack also. I have read there are several reasons RV owners like Volvo and I can't really argue with some of those reasons.
One; I have no need for a sleeper. Most here seem to want a sleeper?
So the nice integrated design of the Volvo cab is nice to have but not needed.
Becoming interested in comparison of the basic architecture I started searching for manufacturer info about wheelbase and turning radius. I thought there would be a nice chart with the footprint/wheelbase of the major brands somewhere but no luck. Anyone with a link?

One of the threads on the hdt section of the irv2.com forum has a list of turning angles for the various manufacturers.

Default Macks

The older Macks had a tiny cab and the turning radius of a runner sled. Rode rough but were tough as nails. I had several and they made wonderful dump trucks. Did I mention the cabs are tiny? The downfall to a Mack is you are kinda stuck to finding a Mack dealer to get parts. The newer CH and CL have better sized cabs and better turning. I can't speak to how the later Mack motors have come thru the epa regs, but don't think any of the manufacturers have superior motors after 2007. AS far as a motor choice I think they are all good. I prefer Detroit since I bought a new KW in 1992 and still have that truck and have very little trouble with it. And the Detroit powered trucks might be less expensive than Cat or Cummins.

Thanks for this reply, your comment confirms what I suspected. I have heard Mack has a very loyal following but so far I have not seen that in the the RV world at all.
I have looked at the cab setup from a distance it looks like it would be easy to adapt to a rear seat passenger configuration. I am pretty sure I won't go down that path though, I would rather find one already done.

I will take a look at the IRV forums thanks!!!

Thanks again HiJack and MnTom. I DID quite a bit of surfing over there but did not find the turn radius spec sheet thread.

Many turn radius questions appeared to be referring to Bus RV's not HD trucks. No urgency on this of course, I thought it would be easier to find. Thank you for your time guys.

OK, I looked the other day and didn't find it. Oh well, not a big deal. Gonna be a while before I can go back to thinking about a truck anyhow.
