Geof-
Hey, uh, can you clarify a bit on that starter-generator thing you so intently desire? Like, what is it?

.....usually it is a generator/alternator with a gasoline engine turning it.....w/2 X 20'long jumper cables mounted on a flat plate with a cover over it.....usually just pull the rope and hook it the cars battery and it will give it a "HOT SHOT" and turn over the engine in a short period of time.....I'd like one with about 300 amps for a kicker if I run down/wipe out a battery....kinda like a 2nd option...should I have a system failure.....gasoline stations used to use them to jump dead/cold batterys instead of using the electrical system in their wreckers as it eats the electric system usually in a winter....these prevent those issues....we used them for boats for years but I have no access to them now....I sold the business and all the gizmos with it....geof kaye

.....eventually....I'll probably end up making my own[damnitall]....right now is a good time for capital improvements in my business accounts so I'm loading up on the small things that make "doing business" easier and lower profits for the 1st quarter[hopefully]....one of those things was a starter/generator but they seem to have faded from the service industry as even the Freightliner truck dealership has a starting unite that recharges while pluggged in the lobby to a 220vac plug and has an on board charger and 4 huge batteries to start class 8 that have been sitting for months in cold weather.....Though any leeds are appreciated...though I don't Ebay-I do business with commercial venders......geof kaye

Found this for you. Maybe check it out. You could build one very easily. 12 or 24 volt.
