any comments on how far from rear axle to king pin?.

Have a 98 Volvo 420 with 3 axles, debating which axle to take out, so far 3000 mile trip with the 3 axles did'nt seem to bad with our 29 foot trailer, with 9 MPG. Thanks Tom

Hi Tom,

With a tractor you can place the hitch anywhere you want it. Location does not matter with the small amount of weight RVers haul. If you want it behind the axle that's no problem.

If you plan to build a bed on the frame, the current wheelbase, and how long a WB you want to wind up with, can be determining factors on which axle to remove if you remove either one, and how much of the frame rail ends, if any, you will cut off.

IM curions as to what State you are in, and how you registered your Volvo with a 42 inch sleeper.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry
I'm not a good typist but here goes.
I probably noticed your trucks and writings in Sept. checked with dmv here in OR. and just reg. as truck. no cdl as long as not paid "not for hire"
Might try the motor home angle at some other time though,
Due to the cost involved I will probably leave it as a 3axle. I also just sold my 2002 350 ford
thank you Larry and Gary
