Great idea and I like the fact that you can move it in or out. I originally used the same setup, a gps with my laptop. But, I just never could find a good place for everything, I did buy a jotto desk --> http://66.76.87.4/jotto/detail.asp?id=6

But it just seemed to get in the way. So I went to a Street Pilot III which is awesome and I love the talking feature. Plus I could never give up my CB, that sucker has really come in handy many times.
