Small Toterhomes
Hello All. I'm kinda uneducated on Toterhomes. I am familiar with Renegade, but don't know who all makes them.
Can I get some links to the companies that make small single axle toters to pull an RV type trailer.
Looking for something with bathroom/shower, cooking facilities and gen set. Preferably on a medium duty truck chassis.
Thanks.

NRC Modification will build whatever you want on whatever truck you give them. I see you are in the cold north, make sure you buy from a company that is Canadian compliant.

Thanks Gordy, I will check them out. I never even thought of the Canadian standards. good point, because I've seen people loose out on insurance because of that.
Thanks.

If you want small, but still full living quarters, look for a pony express unit. They built a bunch of units on Chevy 5500 chassis (and a few 6500) with an 8' box and everything one person would ever need to live in. Full bathroom, shower, fridge, stove, sink, tv, a/c, generator, slide out with sofa, and bunk over the cab. I don't think I'd like 2 people in one, but great for single.
Here's one for sale in my neck of the woods:
TRUCK FOR SALE, PONY EXPRESS TOTERHOME PX800RF. LEONARD TRUCK & TRAILER: 800-455-1001.
I don't remember the mileage, just that it was low. They want $65k, and I know they were over $100k new.
This one sold, but it has some good pics of how they are laid out:
Pony Express Toter 17,495 Miles!! For Sale

Wasn't there a thread around that listed all the companies and such? I'll go look.

Found it: http://www.truckconversion.net/forum...rs-sales-5962/
Have you been looking on Race, performance & street cars, engines, engine parts, trailers for sale ? Good resource for lots of used ones. One thing I'd suggest. Forget about a mdt. Buy or build on a HDT for sure.

It is not an insurance issue we have to worry about. It is hitting the border and the manufacturer not being on the "list". That means it DOES NOT come into Canada. Even having NRC (a compliant company) build mine, it was interesting at the border.

Wow! Those are nice Hot rod. And the size is more scaled to what would fit in my application. For those prices, I can't believe I didn't look into this before I bought a pickup. Now I'm depressed.

I want to thank you all. This site is great. I've already got a ton of info and resources!
Ok Gordy, I know what you mean now.
What I was thinking, was I've seen people get denied insurance after a fire because they found an appliance that wasn't stamped CSA Approved.
Thanks for the links Bob.

Bob,
I really have to update that T/C conversion list of web sites. I am glad you found it and posted it for the gentleman.
He may also want to spend some time on racingjunk.com as it gives a good perspective to what is out there.
Thanx and good holidays.

Renegade makes a smaller version called the Explorer. They are geared towards fifth wheel RV users.
Renegade is on the Transport Canada list.
