before frame shortening - how long is the cab to the end of frame in inches? can you slide the 5th wheel back and forth with the trailer hooked up or does the trailer need to be unhooked/detached? What is the frame top height at the rear of the tractor? and last!...What is the frame top height when you activate the dump valve?....

This depends on the wheelbase of the truck.I'M not sure where you want the measurement from, and it depends on the original WB of the tractor.

Both the Volvos I now own have been converted to single axle. I'm guessing the distance from the back of the sleeper to the end of the frame was about 175 inches before conversion.

The distance with single axle conversion is 140 inches. The height of the top of the frame rails from the ground is about 39 inches. When the air suspension is dumped, the frame sinks about 5 inches and sits on stops against the axle. The top of the hitch height is about 45 inches in the normal position.

An air slide hitch slides 24 inches from front to back. A fifth wheel trailer can be towed with the hitch any any position. The trailer has to be connected to the hitch if you want to move the hitch forward or backward.

One of the Volvos I have is sold. It is being picked up on the 5th of this month. The other Volvo was also sold, but the Texas buyer said his company was affliated with Enron, his job was suddenly in jeopardy, so he backed out of our deal. This Volvo is for sale again. It is red, just like the other one.
