Default 2006 mbe4000 delete egr?

Does anyone know of a way to delete the egr on a 2006 mbe4000? I wonder if there would be any mpg increases with this mod? I'm familiar with deleting egr and Dpf on 1ton trucks and the benefits, I just wonder if it would help with the Mercedes in the motorhome. I am trying to increase the fuel milage, I know all the little tricks like watching speed and drafting the truckers, but I want more.

I thought I had an egr and my year chassis didn't! Make sure you have one for sure. And I was trying to improve my mileage too! I have looked at all the air type things that help mileage and I don't drive enough to make it pay. Tires, egr, etc etc. If you hit on something let me know

You hear a lot of bad stuff about the mbe4000 from truck drivers but not so much from rvs. I think they are probably underpowered for big rig heavy duty constant hauling, but are good for what we use them for in our motorhomes.

Most of the mechanics that I know that work on them say they seem to do better in vocational or regional (gravel trucks, local delivery trucks, etc) applications, where engine loads and speed varies greatly, than in less long haul type trucks where you set the cruise and go at a steady pace.

That being said RV'ers don't put on the huge miles like truckers do, so you probably have a much reduced chance of problems. Removing the EGR system, especially if it as simple as blocking a pipe, is a cheap, easy way to reduce possible problems.

Does anyone on here know for sure if it is as easy as just blocking it off? Seems like the computer would sense that something is not right and possibly go into limp mode or something?

EGR flow is not monitored, it will still sense the EGR valve operating so it thinks everything works. The older the engine the simpler they get.
