Default What is this?

I had a drip the other day in the pouring down rain and I went up to day and see what was wrong with the vent....that's where the drip was and found this broke off. It has a phone wire running to it and its all corrosioned up. So all I can guess at is a Temperature senor. Or maybe something to do with the awing? Any way it's history.

Thanks for the help!

Sam

Following. I think I've got something that looks just like that on my roof. I never looked close to see what it is.

I see the shadow of a modular RJ-11 type connection (on the cable end).

I wonder if it goes to your awning anemometer (for auto retraction/roll-up of the awning when it gets windy)? clearly something has come off the roof.

I forget who makes our awning but the sensor (which is worthless) is encased in a plastic housing/chimney.

I agree with Don.

It bears a striking resemblance to this gizmo:Dometic WeatherPro Control Kit with Switch and Remote - Awning Parts & Accessories - Hardware

YUP, Petrel is correct.
Our awning is an AE WeatherPro & according to the manual the windspeed sensor uses an RJ-11 connection.

all I've ever used is a putty knife, some of its tougher than others (if its been there a long time / cured) you might need to use a metal putty knife....but then my roof is aluminum sheet.

heres some hints - apparently a warm day or warm caulk helps.
they say NO solvents (on rubber roof).

Default Wind sensor update

I had to blow leaves first and then it started to drizzle...... but I got on the roof and put some duck tape over the hole and cut the bad end off the cable. I took the picture to show the problem and why it was not working. But you know being a 05 model and with the great caulking done and all the trouble you have to go thru to trace out things, I am kinda glad it broke off.

Lots of corrosion on this cheap ass plug. I guess I will put some Dielectirc Grease when I install the new one or might figure out a better way.
