trailer hitch
I'm searching for a reputable place to buy my trailer hitch. I would like a 30k unit, but all I can seem to find are pickup truck stuff. Do any of you fella have an ID plate on your hitches that might point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance, Steve

I'm guessing with wanting a 30K hitch you want a fifth wheel hitch. Look at THIS PAGE and there is a list of hitch companies. I have heard nothing but good about the ET hitch, but due to the owner just having surgery he is not able to be a speedy as he was, bit probably will be again!

I'm confused as to what your looking for...are you looking for the actual (5th wheel) hitch for the coach or a receiver?
I had a ball but needed a 2" receiver for the Toad/Tow-Bar, I had it made pretty cheap:

Or are you looking for something to install on the back of the truck frame? Most of the Truck Conversions have custom made plate steel hitches welded on the end of the framework, I think.

So do you have two cameras? Nothing like looking at the bumper all day long.... mine is up high and I use it a lot for passing.

I have two (now)....we had a problem on a trip (wiring failure up top) so i "quick"moved the camera down below (where some extra wiring existed).
Ive since ADDED a top cam, the lower cam allows me to check on the toad or trailer...and the top cam is helpful for traffic maneuvering...reality is (even w/ the trailer i don't much need a top/ passing cam...but its there and i do use it.

Maybe one day I can remember to post some pictures of my custom version (made mine so it doesn't stick out quite so far) of the hitch....I do have an AutoCAD file for the steel I had Waterjet cut out of 1/2inch steel to make it though.
As far as weight rating, I can't say for sure(I am not an engineer), but I would venture to say it should be good for 25,000lbs. I say this since I have seen this(or incredibly similar) hitch used to pull some fairly large triaxle stacker trailers (3x7000lb axles plus tongue weight, puts it at around 25000lb).

NOT a clue, but I'm assuming since its made as well as the OEM (ball) that its good for 25k or more. It was welded by a licensed / certified welder (not me).

I think i may have said this before but IMO my fabricated 2" receiver IS a bit too long, its not been an issue, just simply a fact that it doesnt have to be near a long as it is.

That one has the standard 2 5/16" ball welded on. So to pull something with a different size ball, or mount my bike rack in a standard 2" square hitch I had my neighbor make me this:

1/2" plate steel. He's a professional welder (retired) and whipped this thing up real quick. I bought the tube at Uhaul I think. Works great.

Hitch Files
When I contacted the company I used to have the pieces Waterjet cut I just emailed him these three files, he loaded the dxf file into his waterjet, double checked the dimensions and cut it. No setup fee, just table time and materials. I am not responsible for any errors in dimensions or weight capacity. Use at your own discretion.

My hitch looks basically like bushpilot's tube receiver, and my back of my truck is also similar to bushpilot's. The tube receiver does it all for me, I can put the tow bar in, or put a std trailer ball in. My hitch piece was made by a company in Indiana. Can't recall the name, but I will look and report back tomorrow.
