Default Storage bay latches

My Renegade is equipped with Southco C5 type lever latches. The powder coat on them is starting to fade and they look a bit rough.

Questions:
Does anyone know where to locate the part number on these things?
Does anyone have any experience re-painting them or having them re powder coated?
Has anyone replaced the black latches with chrome latches and were you pleased with the resulting appearance?

Thanks!

I replaced a couple on mine (key busted off or something) back in 2013.
IIRC the p/n can be found by removing the latch.

Removal is easy just pull the simple flat bar clap that pinches it to the door.

Ive not hand any problems with the finish - replacing them all to convert to stainless/chrome would be pricey....that said I'll buy at least a few of your old ones.

Mine are C5's and I replaced them w/ c5-13-45's - theres is a logical science to their part numbers - and while I dont recall it now, once I figured it out it was easy to decipher.

I bought 3 c5-13-45s (black no key) for 44 bucks from a seller on EBAY

Don, Thanks for the reply. If I start pulling and replacing them, I'll keep you in mind. They are pricey little devils! I remember going down this road before and chickening/cheaping out.

I may have to buy a couple of chrome ones to see how they look. It is a shame the finish did not hold up better on the black ones. Otherwise the latches look like they are built to last forever.

11+ bucks a latch doesn't sound bad until you realize you need 20+
IIRC southco wanted $40 or more per latch.

I found the (90mm) C5 Sealed lever Compression Latch part number decoder

Are yours the round button / C5 90mm?
