Default Side Marker/Turn Signals - the lighting fetish continues

Ok, my Renegade has two excellent cab/side marker/turn signals. Unfortunately, they are the only incandescent fixtures remaining on the exterior and the lower ones are susceptible to water intrusion. The lenses are also badly oxidized.

Unfortunately, I cannot find a suitable led replacement that is nearly as bright as these 3157 bulb based fixtures. I've purchased the Maxxima replacements, since that is what Renegade used on the rest of my rig, but they just aren't as bright. So, I am fishing for some replacement suggestions.

For the record these are the oval cab marker and the 2x6 side marker/turn signal, both in amber.

Furthermore, when I first got the rig, I was thinking that a mid coach marker/turn signal would not be a bad idea. I saw them on all of the buses, now I also see them on some of the new renegades. Has anyone added mid coach marker/turn signals?

I put some turn signal/running lights on the bottom step on my fuel tank steps. My rig had no side turn signals so once a car was next to me and forward of the tail lights they wouldn't be able to see my turn signal. I got some lights similar to these: https://www.iowa80.com/pd/4-pearl-ro...-light/178428/

Wired them up to my front turn signal/running lights. I mounted them to the step near the leading edge of the step. They are not in my way at all when climbing in/out. I angled them out a bit so they shine right at motorists when they're next to me and a bit behind. Sorry, I can't seem to find any pictures showing them. I'll take a couple next time I go to the truck.

There you can see the light on the bottom step. They seem to work well. When I put on the turn signal cars get the heck outa the way.

Any of these look like they would work.

The 2 expensive ones look bright.

Not sure which one you're thinking about. That link brings up a whole page with lots of different lights. At least for me it did. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Strange....when I click on the link on my laptop it filters properly but on my phone it doesn't.

If you filter by Freightliner and marker lights it brings up 6 possible teardrop LED lights.

Here is the one I was thinking of.

I was specifically wondering if anyone had replaced the 3157 bulb based marker light or sleeper light with a led as bright. I can't seem to find anything as brlght in a Maxxima light, which is what everything else on the rig is.

I just have the "sleeper" light and a side marker/turn signal. What I want to do is double up on the side marker/turn signal and add another pair of them somewhere easily accessible, like the panel in front of the front tandem. It isn't perfect, but I think it would save trying to work in a storage bin.

If you take a look at the Prevost conversions they have a 3 or 4 pairs of side marker/turn signals. The intention being (it think) that when the driver hits the signal, anyone next to them can't miss their entire vehicle being illuminated in flashing amber light. Take a look at the side markers on this devil:

Good looking rig Petrel! If I were to mount another turn signal on the side, I would look at the space between the duals. A bright one would also light up well enough to see where your tires are in relation to a curb when turning at night.

Petrel,
I got two new ones on the cab, Bushpilot got them for me. They are led's and are bright. The ones down on the box are the stock ones, as I was polishing my headlights I polished them too and it made a big difference! They act like new ones, I also just replaced the bulbs with new one and that didn't hurt.

Thanks for posting the photo. What make are those lights?

Polishing the lights does help a bunch.

I'm heading out tomorrow, in the rain as usual. Guess I'll just pack those side marker light sockets with dielectric grease and hit the road.

Took a peak at a new Renegade last week. Still can't figure out why the busses have so many nice bright side markers and even the new truck conversions have so few.

Contact Bushpilot he bought them, my truck is an hour away right now or I would look for you.
I want to put more lights on my truck, Led's of course. Replace the old ones polished and locate some more around, but I really don't like the black ribbed plastic for running wires and I would have to do that in several places, I want a mid point turn signal on each side, and a long strip up each side in the back for brake, running, turning and if they would turn white for back up. My lights for backing up lack a lot! And I want the ones in the back so people can see what is going on above my toad.
Also want to have some bright LED's for front running, I always run with my lights on in the day, AND them fog light, what a piece of junk, polished or not. I see all these replacement light but not sure about the beam, range etc. Yes I have looked at all the specs, but I want to see them in the dark so I get what I am looking for.
Be safe in the rain!

Sam

I'd like some more light upfront also, been thinking of mounting a light bar in the open slot in the bumper. I don't think it's legal to run it all the time though. I've thought about an led light bar along top on the rear that you could turn on for backing and loading my trailer.

imo a lightbar up front will be a mistake.

a couple of pods (4 or 6 LEDs each) will work better, since you can aim them independently of each other.

My Passenger-side LED pod is aimed toward the shoulder a bit and the drivers-side pod points a bit more straight (if not a little to the right/passenger side) to keep it out of the eyes of on coming interstate traffic.

the same probably holds true for the rear as well....two or maybe 3? pods up top would give you some better aim / spread options

I've got some of the pods with the 6 led, I bought them to use on my tractor. I may try them out on the motorhome and see if I like it.

Yep just like those, I guess if your running these on the highway, they would be considered fog lights? Would it be legal? I run fog lights on all my vehicles all the time. I've got a 2017 f350 platinum and it has the best headlights of anything I've driven. Led and auto high beam, and I still run the fog lights all the time.

Any light that does not have a SAE or DOT Approval number on them is illegal for on road use. Not that this stops most people.

These lights https://www.rigidindustries.com/ligh...compliant.html would be legal when used properly.

they are DOT LEGAL, Rigid Industries DRIVING (pattern) lights..."dulley" (6 LED) model - they come in 3 beam patterns...

PENCIL, DRIVING & FOG....dont bother w/ the Pencil - I've seen arrows that weren't as straight or narrow.

I also have a 2017 F350 (crew cab, long bed, 4WD) Platinum Edition...I agree AMAZING LED lighting.
