Good catch #90-GTSC, I seem to have forgotten that I will be starting from Chicago, so west it is. Living on the west coast my brain thinks of everything as east..lol

Thanks
Dave

We are on our way to Louden Lake in Tennessee. My nephew bought a boat and we are going to test it out.

What kind of boat? Fast boat? Slow boat? Pictures or it didn't happen!

Are we still doing this? I didn't know if we stopped the thread or just stopped going places.

sure why not.

I forgot to post that we were up in virginia again (August 14 thru the 29th).
Had to come across i20 to avoid the storm (isaac) and all the departing thieves on i10.

I've been terribly missing my rig. It's been tucked away in my storage place since July 8th. Too busy with other things. Taking it out tomorrow. Heading to Notre Dame for the ND/Purdue football game on Saturday, Sept. 8th. Coming back to MN on Sunday. I see the RV Museum is only about 15 miles away. Might take a run over there if we have time.

I finally got Rojo's new paint sealed and waxed because I'm headed south this weekend. I sure don't want that red paint to turn pink again.

We're headed to Destin FL for some beach time. It'll be nice to go somewhere with no work on the docket, and my wife gets to go with me .... like I could go to the beach without her. Anyone been to Henderson State Park in Destin? I got a buddy that says its fantastic.

Can't help in Destin, we stay just a little farther east in Panama City Beach at St. Andrews State Park. No problems there in our race car trailer, the state parks don't care what you're driving unlike some of the snooty private campgrounds down there. Nice park, you can get a site right on the bayside, with the beaches a long walk or short ride on the gulfside. I use the reserve america website for florida state parks, they are very accurate on site dimensions, and generally have pics of each site now.

I'm jealous, we can't head south until Nov/Dec., enjoy!

Henderson State park in Destin Florida is amazing. At least it was exactly what I was looking for and needed. As most of you know, I use the truck for living on site when working out of town. I'm not much of a camper. The spaces were so private that you couldn't see any other campers. To be on this part of the beach, you had to be camping at the park (and there are only 60 spaces). It was $30.00 a night for power and water. there were dump stations and recycling at the park.

Maybe we should start a thread or something that would allow us to give a review for places we have visited.

Leaving Saturday, Sept. 22, for Grand Marais, MN. Small town on the North shore of Lake Superior. Going to spend a few days camping there. I've been told the campground there is very nice. I like the idea of a "reviews" thread. Escapees has one.

You'll like GM. First went there as kid in 1960's on our way to English River, Ontario to fish. We lived in Shawano (WI). Dad had International Scout with two 10 gallon gas tanks. About 10.3mpg pulling the boat trailer loaded with our stuff. 200 miles from Shawano to Ashland (WI) then 200 miles from Ashland to GM and then another 200 to English River so we stopped both ways in GM on each trip. First and probably only time I saw a gasoline pump that would dispense a gas/oil mix. There were settings I think for 24:1 and 50:1. Standard station downtown, I think on the little harbor.

Then again in the early 70's when I worked for the Isle Royale Seaplane Service we had a DeHavilland Beaver based at the seaplane dock just a few miles from GM. Flew into the SB once in Piper Super Cub on Floats and then flew across Lake Superior to Houghton, MI where we had a Beech 18 and a Dornier DO-28a both on floats.

Take the boat trip out to Isle Royale National Park. It is a very, very interesting place.

Grand Portage Isle Royale

Lots to see on Lake Superior's north shore. Enjoy the trip. Let us know how it goes.

Remember ... like they say on the Garage Journal Forum: If there aren't pictures, it didn't happen!!
