My son and I spent Saturday afternoon tiling the backsplash. I am very happy with how it turned out. Going to frame the edges with trim that matches the cabinetry yet but here are some pictures.

I also found a 20 foot Carefree Mirage awning that I bought. It is one that doesn't have vertical arms so its a little more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. I am hoping I will be twice as happy with it compared to one with the vertical arms as its twice the price! Looking to get it hauled up from Atlanta to Wisconsin though. Hoping to find someone that will do it reasonably otherwise I guess it will be a road trip weekend!

I was able to install my Mirage awning. What a beast, 21 feet long and 220lbs. Doesn't sound like a lot of weight but it is when your 12 feet off the ground and on a ladder. Used the jib crane and my car lift to get it up high enough to put on the roof, then we only had to manipulate it up on the ladder rather than carry it up the ladder. Anyways, can't wait to open it all the way. The truck is still framed into my garage from winter so I only have room to open it up about 3 feet. Works pretty slick though.

So I am removing the slide out from the wrecked camper I have. I found out it is made by Norco and if anyone is looking to do an install on one, I believe this is going to be the most cost effective and least destructive to an already built camper. Very basic theory of push and pull on the mechanism with cables. Nothing has to go under the floor and no exotic track systems. Looking forward to trying it out. I am to the point of mounting it in my truck. I had to frame out the rear where the roll up door was to the dimensions required. I did this and then bondoed up the welds followed with paint. Unfortunately the paint color was wrong so I get to repaint it again Anyways I will be doing that this weekend, but have been mounting the 2 pulley blocks and motor. This is all that needs to be mounted for the slide out other than the "picture frame" part of the slide. I chose to frame the door opening with 3/16 rectangular tubing. I matched what was already there. If I could have done it over I would have used some thinner material as I could have used self tapping screws to secure the frame of the slide out to rather than drill and tap number 8 fine thread screws all the way around! Either way it's turning out nice. Here are the pictures I have so far. Hopefully in another week I will be installing the actual slide.

Thanks, I plan to install one up on the driver side in the living area, hopefully around a 12 foot long one. That will be some of next winters project though! Trying to finish a few things up so I can use it in the next month or so.

The slide out install took longer than expected (what else is new!) but was able to install the slide out over the weekend. Need to finish the paneling and trim work on the inside as well as properly wire it but it is a success! Very happy with how smooth it operates.

Thanks, the slide was $1800....well kind of. $1800 bought me the wrecked camper that had the slide out in it. I also used the furnace, toilet water heater, fridge and sink. I had planned on using much more but decided to spend the money to buy exactly what I wanted rather than just use what was on the trailer.

I plan to purchase a new slide out from them when I install one in the front. It will be around a 12 foot slide for the couch and dinette. I haven't had them quote it yet, but I don't see it costing more than $2k... I ordered a few parts for mine and they were very reasonable. Have to order through one of there dealers, I used: Colaw RV Used Parts - We Have Your Part... They were very helpful. When I get to ordering the big slide out I will post the info including cost for that.

Well we were finally able to use the camper rather than work on it! It is far from done but all the mechanicals work and didn't have any problems. Went on a fishing trip up north of Spooner Wisconsin for 4 days and then went to and raced at the World Series in Cordova the following weekend. Everything worked out great. Fuel mileage on the truck towing a 16 foot fishing boat was 10.8mpg (calculated by the dash), fuel mileage towing stacker trailer with 3 race cars, a jr dragster, scooter and golf cart (24,500lbs) 6.3mpg! Both were calculated driving 72mph. I didn't think it would knock it down quite that much with the car trailer but I guess that is a lot of weight.

I am trying to get a game plan together for progress this winter on the camper and I want to get my 2nd slide out installed. After a not so pleasant conversation with the sales rep for Norco who manufacture the Accu Slide slide out that I want to install in the side to match the rear slide he came thru with a quote. (Sales rep didn't want to deal with me as I am not OEM... I explained that there was nothing on your website that says you only deal with OEM and that your tech line is the one that sent me the design guide for ordering a slide out. He said they shouldn't of and that he gets 10 calls a week from people just like me that think they can order a slide out and I quote "duct tape one into the wall"! He was a real gem to work with but I haven't found another system I can order and is as easy to install.

My rough opening is 6ft tall by 12 feet long and the slide out will be 3 feet deep, the price comes out to $1275 which includes the motor, assembled frame that screws into the opening, electrical switch, all pulleys and cables, mounting brackets, exterior trim covering, emergency motor override tool, boxed and crated. I will be picking it up in Elkhart so there will not be any shipping cost. I was hoping it would be under $1,000 but not the end of the world. I will still have to build the actual room part that slides in and out but I have all the other material priced and I should still be able to keep the total cost of the slide out to around $2,000.
