Im not sure it would have saved you in this instance - but I've been several places now where it saved me from reverse polarity and LOW voltage.
The low voltage situations are really bad, causing the ATS to switch on & off....which creates wear on the ATS relay / contact points and will build carbon on the contacts.
I went w/ the LCHW-50 (hardwire) & wired it myself. I kinda wish i had gone w/ the EMS-HW50C, then i could have had a display IN the coach (and in my electrical bay).
