I've attended several HDT rally's where the vast majority of attendees pull large 5th wheels with HDT's. So, I've chatted quite extensively with many of them. Only heard of a few issues with a park not letting somebody in because of size. They do maintain a pretty extensive list of big rig friendly parks. And with all the internet and satelite info available nowadays I don't think it should be a problem. Lots of those guys say they check the satelite to see what the park looks like before they head there. They also call ahead and describe their rig. I would say that there are lots more parks that welcome you and your wallet than there are that don't. Sure, there's going to be parks you'd want to go to that won't have room for you. I was out in Virginia last week camping at a county park. I called a nearby National Forest campgrounds to see about getting in there for a couple nights. I told her I have a 36' motorhome. She said they do have sites big enough for me but they were all booked up. She told me about a private campground nearby and they did have room for me. I would buy the tow vehicle that fits your needs best and not listen to anybody that tells you it's too big. When I first got my T/C I showed it to a buddy that has a gas Class A. He said it's going to beat up my trailer. I've heard others say that. Well, I've put over 50k miles on it since spring, '09. More than half of those miles were pulling my enclosed car trailer. The trailer is in like new condition. There is no indication of any problems. And, I'm pretty sure it pulls it pretty smooth. I often have junk tossed in the trailer and not tied down. When I get to my destination and open it up nothing has moved. So I'm not thinking the truck is beating up the trailer. Anyhow, that's not unlike those people saying, "you don't need that big of a truck to pull that trailer" or "no park will let you in." If you haven't been to the HDT Rally you should definitely go to one before making a decision to buy an HDT.
